Hey guys! So I was gonna write about some stuff about my hometown and the people there, but some recent events have let me to write this beforehand.
You know that Kerala, The God's Own Country was facing a hell of a time with excessive rainfall and over the top of that, opening of multiple dams (33 dams) which lead to the flooding in the state and MASSIVE destruction causing a loss of approximately 19,000 crores.
If you had seen the news of those days showing the pitiful conditions of the residents of the affected areas, then you'd know how much of a disaster had engulfed Kerala. People were stuck in their homes, offices with no way to get out. I agree it was the fault of the residents for not paying heed to the red alert issued but then who can blame the people for being naive and making a mistake? We're all humans and we make mistakes.
Whenever I turned on the regional news channels of Kerala, all I could see was the power and scorn of Mother Nature, who destroyed everything that came in her path, including houses, vehicles and even mountains! Yes, you guys should know that there were multiple landslides that occurred and people who had houses there, buried under the soil and mud, ALIVE.
I spent sleepless nights worrying about my loved ones who resided in Kerala, called them up a few times, in fear that their phones may die due to a dead battery which they would not have been able to charge back because there was no electricity since EVERYTHING was under water. Neither did they have food, nor proper amenities to deal with such a situation.
Now, after hundreds of people lost their lives, some being stuck in the flood and some died during saving the victims, and after having tens of thousands of homeless people, Mother Nature has subdued her forces. What would you have done if you saw that what you had worked for your entire life, your house, your family, swept away or drowned right before your eyes?
The people of Kerala had united to save the victims and provide food and shelter to the victims. They also tried to save as much animals and cattle as they could, even though massive numbers of the poultry, cattle, canines and felines lost their lives. Keralites stood united and helped each other out. They didn't cower behind, they showed the courage to come out and help as much as possible their fellow brothers and sisters.
Now, there are a lot of things I'm not mentioning but I am truly proud of my motherland, because they helped so much that I cannot possibly put it into words. Truly, each and every state, each and every organisation took steps to donate required amenities such as medicines, sanitary pads, food, clean water to Kerala and help them monetarily too.
But, to say I'm truly disappointed with the PM's action, will be the understatement of the century. He can spend Rs. 3600 crores for a statue, Rs. 4300 crores for advertisement, but offers Rs. 600 crores for the state in peril. I was literally like "like seriously dude?". Does he actually believe that what he offers will be remotely enough for the terror stricken, traumatized victims of Kerala? Is it because he knows he has no supporters in Kerala? Even if he had supporters, then believe me, he will lose those handful ones if he decides to DENY the aid provided by the international countries like UAE (Rs. 700 crores), Maldives ($50,000) , Saudi Arabia, etc.
I know he is a God for some people, and I don't mean to defame him. I am respectfully asking, does he not fathom the depth of the situation? Is he too naive to even declare it as a "national calamity" or is he too cunning to not let Kerala have the national calamity funds? Would he have funded only this much if BJP had power in Kerala? Would he have only given this much amount if there were elections right now in Kerala?
Never mind. I'm just as illiterate as a donkey on the road when it comes to politics, but you don't have to be Einstein to see what politics has become now a days. People have no trust in politicians, and those who do trust them, well, are naive, in MY OPINION.
Disclaimer: This is my opinion and if it hurts your sensitive minds please shut up, close this blog. I just wanted to let my opinions out to the world. I don't care if it hurts your embarrassingly pathetic ego.
i respect your thoughts n the way u let your heart out. well written❤️
