Well, hello again! Here I am back with another one of a topic a lot of
my friends suggested. I just saw this topic and realized that there are lots of
articles on this but no matter how much awareness we try and spread, people
just ignore our words of advice and then eat the fruit of their stupidity. I
know my choice of words is a bit harsh but I guess simple words are not enough
for people who don't correct themselves even after they realize that they are
wrong.
So, coming back to the topic, which of course, the title might have
already suggested what I am going to tell you and how you could use this
information to maybe try and improve your lifestyle. Also, this is just my
point of view, and if you have some other sensible and efficient opinions and
ideas, feel free to share with me in the comments below!
I will get right to it then. I am planning to start with a few basic
things parents used to tell us. Used to, because now even they
have fallen victim to this age of digitalization. Yes, I am blaming the
internet for making numerous people think that they are very
sick. Yes, some of you might have heard the name of this condition, it is
called "cyberchondria".
As per the definition provided by Wikipedia, "Cyberchondria
is the unfounded escalation of concerns about common symptomology based on the
review of search results and literature online." In lay man's
language, googling your "symptoms" and then getting a result from Dr.
Google.
I mean, I
support this technique of healing through home remedies but up to a certain
limit. But, now-a-days, people have changed their mind-set. You think that Google
knows everything (which it probably does) and just type out things that you are
experiencing and it might turn out something like this:
I hope you
get what I mean. Internet is not designed like our brains. It cannot think as
humans do, as DOCTORS do. Doctors have studied for years so that when people
like you could come in with your problems and have them diagnosed correctly.
Sure, doctors can make mistakes at times, but we are all human, we should see
what caused the mistake or was it even the doctor’s fault or was it just your
body reacting differently to the treatment.
Every human body
reacts almost the same way but there can be various exceptions in a lot of
people, since no two bodies are exactly similar. So, you should at least know
what caused the issue instead of directly accusing the doctor of medical
negligence.
Also, before
you could accuse a doctor of anything, you should make sure you have done
everything as the doctor suggested. I have seen a big trend of this same
problem of Cyberchondria on the rise. What people normally do now is google
their first diagnosis, then maybe go to the doctor for second opinion and then
again google the correctness of the doctor’s diagnosis. Do you actually think
what doctors learn in a span of years is equal to the result internet has
provided you in a fraction of a second?
Now-a-days,
people have become their own doctors. Even if they go and approach professional
help for their problems, they will not consider going for a follow up since “the
problem has been solved”. Just because the symptoms have stopped showing
visible symptoms does not mean your body has got rid of the illness. If the
doctor tells you to go for a follow-up, please listen to him. Spending another
400 bucks is nothing compared to the money you will have to spend if your
previous illness develops into something way worse.
I have seen
so many people who ignore the doctors’ advices and then they reap what they had
sown. But instead of accepting their fault, they had the audacity to say that
it was the doctor who was wrong. I simply do not understand what goes inside
their brains (if THAT exists).
People who do
not complete their prescribed dosages are also posing a big threat to the
future populations to come. Look, in simple words, these dosages are given to
you for a purpose, that is, so that the organism or the sickness that has been
bothering you should cease to exist. But people do not even understand this.
They just stop their medicines when they feel like it and they do not even
realise the consequences of their actions.
For example,
if you are taking a medicine for a bacterial infection and the doctor has
prescribed you a medication for a period of one month, completely take the
medicines for the whole month to eradicate the bacteria from your body.
Otherwise, even if a single bacteria survives the attack of these medicines, it
will grow resistant to it and then multiply and create hordes of bacteria who
are immune to the medicine.
If you see,
this case is very common in MDR TB (Multi Drug Resistant Tuberculosis) because
people just won’t complete their dosages. If this trend does not subside in the
near future, soon there will cease to be a cure for various diseases. What I am
trying to say is that we have a responsibility towards the well-being of our
future populations, so let us not worsen it for them and make Earth literally a
living hell for them.
I had thought
I will be able to complete this blog in a single part but it seems that there
is too much to be written and too much to be told. So I hope I did not melt
your brains with all this information. If it has not melted yet, it definitely
will if I continue bombarding you with all this information, so I have decided
to make a second part to this blog where I will try to cover a few more
different topics that need to be addressed.
That is it
for now, fellow humans! Stay healthy. No amount of money is going to be worth
your life. So, health first, everything else later. Also, if you did read the blog
completely, I am very proud of you. Hurrah!
Special Thanks to:
